The Power of a Pure Mind

Vajrasattva Retreat

Saturday, October 19th

10:00am-5:00pm

Throughout this life, and in all our countless previous lives, we have engaged in many actions that have left a karmic imprint in our mind.  Although we cannot see that imprint - and we cannot feel it either - that karmic imprint is there, operating to affect our experiences of this life.  Eventually, it will affect our experiences in all our future lives.

If those karmic imprints comes from positive or virtuous actions, this will create pleasant, happy experiences for us.  However, if those karmic imprints come from negative or non-virtuous actions, this will create unpleasant and difficult experiences for us.

To emphasize this point, In his book “The Oral Instructions of the Mahamudra,” Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso writes:

“Non-virtuous actions are the main causes of all our suffering in this life and countless future lives….”

Fortunately, Buddha taught many purification practices to help us remove these negative karmic imprints, swiftly and easily.  The practice of Vajrasattva is an especially powerful yet easy practice.

In this retreat, we will have four guided sessions to help us understand:

  • Who exactly is Buddha Vajrasattva?

  • How do we rely on Buddha Vajrasattva?

  • How do we engage in his purification practice?

  • How do we recite his mantra?

This retreat is suitable for beginners as well as experienced practitioners.  The basics of Vajrasattva practice are relatively simple and can be easily learned in a single day so that we can continue the practice on our own.
