Meet the Buddhas: The Art of Setting Up a Shrine
A Half-day Retreat

Saturday, May 30

Session 1:10:00-11:00 am

Break

Session 2: 11:30-12:30

How can we transform our ordinary home into a sanctuary of peace? In this day course, we will explore the practical and profound art of setting up a Buddhist shrine.

A shrine is not merely decoration; it is a powerful focal point for our faith and a continual reminder of the path to enlightenment.

We will learn the traditional methods for representing Buddha’s Body (statues/images), Speech (Dharma books), and Mind (stupas), and their significance. We will also explore the practice of making beautiful offerings—imagining flowers, light, and water as pure nectar—to generate merit and delight the holy beings. By learning to regard these images as actual Buddhas, we open a window in our mind for blessings to enter, turning our daily environment into a "Pure Land."

During the course, Steve will also give a special explanation of our own Center's shrine, guiding us through the significance of the statues and offerings we see every time we visit.

Everyone is welcome to join us in learning how to invite wisdom into our lives.
