Important Reopening News!

Mahakaruna and Compassion Kadampa Buddhist Centers have exciting news to share with you all. After being entirely online for the past 18 months, both centers are in the process of reopening in new physical locations!

This is an exciting new phase for both Mahakaruna KBC in Petaluma and Compassion KBC in Sacramento. Both centers will continue to offer online classes in addition to in-person classes for the foreseeable future after the new spaces are open.

We are all so grateful for the support we have received from our communities over the last year and a half. Many of you have taken part in our online classes and events and this has helped us to maintain our thriving community online. We are all looking forward to continuing to see you online and in-person soon!

Here’s what’s happening in Petaluma:

We are working on an incredible opportunity to reopen our physical location this fall in the heart of downtown Petaluma. This new space has plenty of visibility and potential for growth with a beautiful outdoor space and accommodation for our teacher, Gen Tenzin. Soon we will be able to offer in-person classes, day courses, empowerments, and retreats!

We need your help. Realizing this vision will take a collective effort. Our goal is to raise $40,000 to get us through the first year. This will put us on solid financial ground to reopen quickly and then be in a position to focus our energy on offering and publicizing our classes. We are already almost halfway to our goal.

Donations of any size are welcome, extremely beneficial and appreciated!

Mahakaruna Kadampa Buddhist Center is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit.

Our Federal Tax ID number is 20-0796000

All donations are tax deductible.

We are so grateful for your generosity and support!

The latest in Sacramento:

We have found a new space to reopen our Dharma Center!  It is a commercial front space with big paned windows located along bustling San Juan Avenue in Fair Oaks.

However, this space requires a bit of TLC and this is where we are calling for all hands on deck!  It is going to take all of us to transform this space into a Center.

Our wish is to  begin offering in-person classes by November.  In order to achieve this we need to raise $10,000 to cover the cost of cleaning, carpeting, painting, and beautifying our new Center.

All donations are welcome!

Compassion Kadampa Buddhist Center is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.

Our Federal Tax ID number is 32-0548476.

We are so grateful for your generosity and support!

Mahakaruna KBC and Compassion KBC are 2 of more than 1200 Kadampa centers and branches now established throughout the world. We are located in Sonoma County and Sacramento, CA. Due to the pandemic, we have temporarily closed our physical locations and joined forces to offer meditation classes and resources online. We will reopen our physical spaces as soon as it is possible and safe to do so. In the meantime, please enjoy this opportunity to discover the power of meditation easily and online!

What is Kadampa Buddhism?

Modern Kadampa Buddhism is a special, systematic presentation of Buddha’s teachings particularly suited for contemporary society. This presentation preserves the meaning and intention of Buddha’s original teachings while making them clear and practical in a way that anyone can easily understand and put into practice.
