Heart Jewel:

Cultivating a Daily Practice

with Gen Kelsang Tenzin

Heart Jewel is the essential daily practice of Kadampa Buddhism. Engaging in Heart Jewel practice helps us develop our compassion, wisdom, and spiritual strength, giving us confidence and courage on the spiritual path. When we engage in Heart Jewel prayers, we rely sincerely on Je Tsongkhapa as our Spiritual Guide and on Dorje Shugden as our Dharma Protector. Practicing in this way with strong faith, we quickly purify negativity, accumulate merit, receive powerful blessings, and gain Dharma realizations.

In this course, Gen Kelsang Tenzin will guide us on a close reading of the book Heart Jewel: The Essential Practices of Kadampa Buddhism by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, each week offering special instructions and commentary to the practice. We will study the text in depth and in its entirety over the length of this course. We will also engage in the Heart Jewel practice during each class.

Whether you hope to establish or to strengthen your daily Heart Jewel practice, or you are new to meditation and interested in learning more about this special ritual prayer, please feel welcome to attend this course.

The Heart Jewel book and prayer booklet are available in both print and electronic formats.

This is a drop-in course and you may attend as many classes as you wish.

Prayers for World Peace

with Chris Taylor

“By learning to cherish others we can experience greater peace of mind and help establish world peace in general. Through contemplating these prayers compiled by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso from traditional sources, we learn to cherish others. If everyone sincerely prays to be able to cherish others, then gradually through the power of this prayer, everyone will actually cherish each other. The world will then be permanently at peace, and pure and everlasting happiness will pervade the entire world.”
