A Drop-in Meditation Class based on The New Meditation Handbook

Deep experience of Buddhist meditation and practice comes from a systematic study and meditation routine in our lives.  The book, “The New Meditation Handbook,” by Ven. Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, is a perfect guidebook for us to ground our meditation practice.

This book contains an entire “Lamrim” cycle of meditations.  The Lamrim contains all of the stages of the path to Enlightenment, broken down into a step-by-step format for us to revisit throughout our lives.  Although we can easily learn all of the steps and stages by rote, it is through repeated deep contemplation, meditation, and prayer that these meditations actually come alive for us in our life.

In each class, we will explore one of the meditations and learn about the preliminary practices that accompany traditional Buddhist practice, including prostration, reciting refuge prayers, and making mandala offerings.

This class is suitable for beginners, and you do not need to start at the beginning of the book or at the beginning of any of our class terms.  Just join whenever you can, drop in when you like, and let the meditation practices grow within you at your own pace.
